AS SWEET AS IT GETS, AS DEEP AS IT GOES

Word Of The Week

Transmogrify

verb

to transform in a surprising or magical manner

“Cazimi” is a word that translates to “in the heart”. It’s used in astrology when a planet is within one degree of the sun. The idea of a cazimi is that the energy of the planet aligned with the sun will be exaggerated and enhanced for that amount of time. I love this for Venus Cazimi in Libra, because Venus is already all about the heart and lighting up and beauty, and it’s at home in Libra, so this is kind of like, one of the most beautiful moments I’ve ever seen astrologically, no big deal. This gives us a moment before the eclipse to reflect, celebrate, and indulge in all the sweetness that surrounds us, and hopefully can act as a reminder for when things turn dark again.

As for this solar eclipse in Scorpio, I can’t say it will be quite as sweet. Scorpio is a sign representing transformation, sexuality, intimacy, the depths of our psyche, death, rebirth and truth. Basically, any incredibly intense idea you can think of, Scorpio is the sign that represents it. Eclipses are the astrological occurrence that symbolizes points of transformation, deep cleaning, truth revealed and dramatic changes. Combining these two looks like…something extremely intense and transformative. Don’t worry, it’s not likely to be super noticeable all in one day, or even one week. Eclipses usually take time, and let their work play out subtly. You may notice themes from this eclipse start taking effect over the next 6 months.

These two events happen so closely to one another, I can’t help but see it as a metaphor for yin and yang energy, duality, balance, dark and light, masculine and feminine, etc. Perhaps we are being shown as a society how disconnected we are, and the tools needed in order to repair. It’s like the Venus Cazimi in Libra shows us where we could be, and the solar eclipse in Scorpio shows us where we are. And after seeing how great the Venus Cazimi feels, the Scorpio eclipse pushes us to make the necessary changes. We don’t need to live in misery to be conscious. There is nothing virtuous about self-abandonment. We don’t need to hate each other for change to occur. Toxic habits and unhealthy lifestyles are not glamorous or artistic. These are just some of the contradictions I’ve noticed we face as a society. This eclipse feels like a turning point, where truth can finally be accepted and real change can begin to work. Libra reminds us, we are always stronger together.

LOVE, JENNA
